The right wheelchair is chosen sitting down, not from a catalogue

In our shop at Via Crispi 130 in Varese you will find transit, self-propelled and tilt-in-space wheelchairs, always in stock. A wheelchair that is too wide makes you slide sideways, one that is too narrow creates pressure points, one that does not fit through the bathroom door stays in the hallway: so you try it, we adjust it and, when needed, we come and look at your home before delivering it.

Transit or self-propelled?

A transit wheelchair has four small wheels and is pushed by a companion: it is narrow and light, folds into a car boot and fits through the tightest spaces at home. A self-propelled wheelchair has large rear wheels with push rims, so the person sitting in it can move on their own. For people who sit for many hours a day there is the tilt-in-space wheelchair, whose tilting seat and reclining back spread the weight and reduce the risk of pressure sores.

Delivered and adjusted at home

Larger wheelchairs arrive in our van anywhere in Varese and the province: the technician adjusts them on site and shows the carer how to open, fold and load them into a car. If the wheelchair is only needed for a few weeks, after surgery or a fracture, renting makes more sense: transit, self-propelled and tilt-in-space models are all available to rent.

How we choose it together

In the shop or at your home, whichever suits you.

  1. Tell us who will use it, for how many hours a day and where
  2. We measure the person sitting: hips, thigh length, foot height
  3. Try the suitable models, adjusted to the person
  4. If needed, we measure doors, corridors and bathroom at home
  5. Delivery and adjustment at home, or collection from the shop

Frequently asked questions

A transit wheelchair has four small wheels and is pushed by a companion: it is narrower and lighter, handy for outings and for tight spaces at home. A self-propelled wheelchair has large rear wheels with push rims, so the person sitting in it can move independently. You can try both in the shop.

We measure the person sitting down: hip width, thigh length and the height of the feet from the floor. A seat that is too wide makes you slide sideways, one that is too narrow creates pressure points. Then we measure the doors and corridors at home, and we can come and check them ourselves.

Yes: transit, self-propelled and tilt-in-space wheelchairs are all available to rent by the day or by the month. It is the right choice after a hospital stay or a fracture, when nobody yet knows how long it will be needed. If you meet the requirements, you can buy one at 4% VAT.
