Stand-aid, for as long as you need it

A stand-aid helps people who can bear weight on their legs but cannot get from sitting to standing on their own. They put their feet on the platform, the sling supports them under the arms and the stand-aid brings them upright; then they are moved from bed to wheelchair or bathroom. The legs keep working, and the carer lifts nothing.
